About the business...

By the Bay Botanicals is  owned by Michelle Sholund and located on her and her husband's tranquil, 1930's farmhouse and homestead of 1.2 acres.  Mind you this isn't a retail location.  The business specializes in homemade and handcrafted botanical products and has been around since 2008 - before that, it was called Grammy's Country Collectibles.  Our business incorporates home grown flowering plants and other botanicals grown on our property as well as other eco-friendly supplies obtained through US local distributors.  We first started offering our own potpourri line which soon included herbal lavender bath teas, air freshener sprays, and homemade incense sticks.  At the beginning of 2010 we launched our new line of eco-friendly palm wax jar candles called Destination Scentsations.  The name Destination Scentsations comes from the fragrances we hand select and blend to carefully capture the essence of popular travel destinations around the country, and soon around the world, giving a whole new meaning to taking a vacation without leaving the room. 

The Destination Scentsations candle line.  A candle must be more than just  look nice or have a pleasant smell, but goes the extra mile.   Our concerns for protecting the environment are high and choose to use 100% palm wax in our candles, an eco-friendly, renewable resource where that comes from palm trees in South East Asia where rain forest habitats are not harmed due to environmental laws .   The candles are safer and less toxic than others in the marketplace due to using only cotton core wicks and when combined with natural palm wax, it creates a great one two punch - eliminating smoke and soot residue.  See our video reviews for visual demonstrations.  The owner of the company personally does random testing of the candles to ensure each and every candle burns evenly and delivers an even scented candle each and every time.  We also guarantee our candles and will ship you a new replacement if you find one that doesn't meet your expectations.  We'll take care of shipping costs!
